Last night my dad and I went to the Red Sox/Blue Jays game at Fenway Park! Every year I buy my dad tickets for Father’s Day and we always have a great time.
Before the game, we grabbed a quick dinner at Tasty Burger, a diner right next to the Park. I ordered the Burger Salad with the veggie burger and my dad got the Big Tasty. I didn’t snap a picture, but my salad was definitely not to my level. I’m used to huge salad beasts and this was merely three pieces of lettuce, two tomatoes, and four cucumber slices. The veggie burger wasn’t terrible, but my lack-luster salad left me wanting more. My dad enjoyed his burger, but said it was nothing special. The up side was that everything came to $15! Much cheaper than if you were to actually eat in the park.
We made our way to our seats right as the Opening Ceremonies were starting.
The game was off to a rocky start– not really unusual for the Sox this year. But then David Ortiz hit a homerun! And everything seemed to be a little bit better, even though we were still losing.
The weather was a major topic of concern. Most of the day it had been raining steadily with a few thunderstorms mixed in. A few hours before game time, it cleared up nicely, but there were still some storms showing on the radar. We thought we were going to get lucky with a rain-free game, but with two outs in the top of the 7th inning, the skies opened and the grounds crew rolled out the tarp.
It was around 9:30 when they called the rain delay. There were a series of thunderstorms passing through and the rain did not want to let up. My dad and I waited around an hour before we took off. The game ended up resuming about 45 minutes after we left, but didn’t end until after 12:30! We had about an hour drive home, so leaving at 10:30 was fine by us. We actually ended up watching the end of the game when we got home!
It was a great night, despite the rain. Fenway Park is my favorite place and I never get sick of going to a ball game– rain or shine
