How I Deal With Family Gatherings

Oh Sunday.  We will always have a love/hate relationship.  Loving my “day of rest” but hating what tomorrow brings.

It’s been a great weekend spent with friends, family and my yoga mat :)  Why must it go by so quickly?

Last night we celebrated my friend Laura’s birthday, and today we celebrated my brother’s 18th birthday!  I LOVE birthdays– especially the celebrating part ;)

Lately it’s been a struggle with family gatherings. I come from a big, Italian family and our celebrations are usually revolved around pasta dinners large enough to feed an army.  Today’s menu included lasagna, meatballs, white pizza, and salad.  Oh good!  I can have salad…and nothing else.  This doesn’t really fly with Miss Hungry Girl here.

To prevent any issues at these types of events, I always come prepared.  Even though someone else is hosting, I bring my own food.  I make enough so that others can try some too, if they wish.  Plus, it helps the host out by providing an extra dish– the more the merrier, right? :)

Today, I brought some new-to-me deeelicious vegan dishes (recipes to come this week).  But as a tease preview, here are some drool-worthy pics ;)

Green Goddess Quinoa

Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Chickpeas

Dark Chocolate Black Bean Brownies

Dark Chocolate Cookies

Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

What’s your favorite thing about Sundays?  Do you bring your own food to family gatherings?
